Bavaria’s picturesque lake district unfolds with alpine peaks, historic villages, and crystal-clear waters, shaping a journey of serenity and romance. The Isar River winds from its wild mountain source past royal retreats and frescoed towns, while ever-changing landscapes create a dreamlike beauty.

Medieval charm and royal intrigue weave through this journey, from Munich’s grand avenues to the tranquil shores of Starnberger See, where Bavaria’s fairy-tale king met his untimely end. The route winds past the moody expanse of Murnauer Moos, the last great upland moor, before reaching the foothills of towering Zugspitze, Germany’s highest peak

Hidden gems along the way bring the past to life – Mittenwald’s violin-making tradition still fills the air with music, the fjord-like Sylvensteinsee reflects the ever-changing sky, and the Bräustüberl Tegernsee carries on a 1,000-year-old brewing legacy.

With an average of 50 kilometers per day and 350 meters of elevation gain, this tour blends moderate cycling with a mix of lakeside paths, rolling foothills, and scenic climbs

The most demanding ascent comes between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Wallgau, while shorter days like Murnau to Garmisch-Partenkirchen provide a gentler ride.

You can expect paved cycle paths, quiet roads, and well-maintained gravel sections, making this journey ideal for leisure cyclists with a good fitness level.

Your holiday includes hand-picked accommodations, GPS tracks, a personalized digital itinerary, and full support, ensuring a smooth and stress-free journey from start to finish. With luggage transfers, you can focus on the ride while your bags await you at day’s end.

Our tours are rated on a difficulty scale from 1 to 5 to help you choose the right experience:

  • 1/5 – Flat terrain with short daily distances (approx. 30 km), suitable for all fitness levels, including beginners.
  • 2/5 – Mostly flat with minor climbs (up to 200 m), averaging 40 km/day. Ideal for casual cyclists in good health.
  • 3/5 – Moderate distances (approx. 50 km/day) with some rolling hills and climbs up to 500 m. Best for recreational cyclists.
  • 4/5 – Longer daily rides (60+ km) with steeper climbs (500–1000 m), requiring solid endurance and climbing experience.
  • 5/5 – Designed for experienced cyclists, these routes feature long distances, demanding climbs, and challenging terrain.

Germany offers varied landscapes, from flat river paths along the Rhine, Moselle, and Elbe to rolling hills in Bavaria and the Black Forest. Most of our tours follow well-maintained cycling paths and quiet country roads, but some include gravel sections or climbs in hilly regions. Each itinerary provides details on daily distances and elevation gain to help you choose the right route.

Yes! Germany has one of Europe’s best cycling networks, with many long-distance routes following dedicated bike paths (Radwege) or quiet secondary roads. The Rhine and Moselle tours are mostly on cycle paths, while the Romantic Road and Bavarian Alps routes include sections on low-traffic roads with occasional climbs.

Germany’s major cities, including Munich, Berlin, and Freiburg, are very cycling-friendly, with extensive bike lanes, dedicated crossings, and clear road markings. Cyclists are expected to follow traffic rules, including using bike lights at night and respecting pedestrian zones where cycling may be restricted.

We partner with a range of high-quality hotels, guesthouses, and inns, ensuring comfort and authenticity. Since availability varies, especially in peak season, we confirm your accommodations after booking. You can find examples of typical lodging in our itineraries, though exact stays may differ.

Our tours are suited for road bikes, touring bikes, and e-bikes. Gravel bikes offer a versatile option, providing both speed on pavement and comfort on scenic backroads. If you’re cycling in hilly regions or covering long distances, an e-bike can be a great choice. If you choose an e-bike, prior experience is recommended, as they require different handling.

Yes! If you’re not bringing your own bike, we provide high-quality rentals, including:

  • Touring bikes (great for long-distance comfort)
  • Gravel bikes (ideal for mixed terrain)
  • Road bikes (for faster, performance-oriented rides)
  • E-bikes (offering pedal assistance for longer distances and hills)

All rentals include delivery, pickup, helmets, repair kits, and extra accessories upon request.
