Take on the largest mountain wall in Slovenia by climbing Triglav's North Face. Known as 'The Wall,' this 1000-meter vertical drop offers an unforgettable climbing experience.
The North Face features over 100 climbing routes, ranging from moderate challenges to some of the toughest mountaineering feats in Slovenia. You'll take on the most traditional and easiest one: the Slovenian Route – a classic and challenging ascent, ideal for ferrata enthusiasts transitioning to more demanding climbs.
This historic climb has deep roots in Slovene mountaineering, dating back to the 19th century when it was scaled by hunters and trackers from the Trenta region. Though not the most difficult route on Triglav’s North Face, it still requires respect and solid alpine experience, especially for people taking their first steps into mountaineering.
The ascent involves guided free climbing with a safety rope. While prior rope climbing experience is not mandatory, participants should be in good physical condition and comfortable navigating difficult terrain. Experience on off-trail routes or via ferrata is strongly advised.
The approach to The Wall takes about an hour, followed by approximately 800 meters of climbing, typically lasting between 5 to 8 hours depending on the climbers' pace. The ascent provides an exhilarating experience with incredible views throughout. The descent from the summit takes about three hours, leading back to the Vrata Valley.
NOTE: The tour can be extended to include an overnight stay at a mountain hut and a summit of Mt. Triglav the next morning. Hut reservations are recommended several weeks in advance to secure a spot.
